Minor update time.

So, Brazil was crazy. Simple as that. Carnival brought out different sides to everyone, and I found myself more often than not traveling with 5 or 6 girls and acting as a "bodyguard". So it goes. Anyway...

We had the longest string of classes. They straight up said that between Salvador and Cape Town, we'll be experiencing 20% of our classes for the entire semester. So yeah, that sucked. Brain dead, hence no updates. Good news is that now we're in Africa, we have a week off. Huzzah.

I'm a little irritated though. One of my trips got their time moved, and it is directly on top of my only other trip. So I'm looking to get refunded, though it's a bit of a bummer that I can't go on both. So it goes though, I've got a few other trips planned in the upcoming ports.

Classes are interesting. The spirit possession course is really something else. Really makes you think outside of the western perspective into the lives of other people.

Oh, quick FYI. This internet cafe is 12 rands per 15 minutes on the internet. 12 rands = $1.50. Booya.

Anyway, Africa is really nice. It's high 70's here, clear skies. Very happy.

Oh, I've got a shaved head. Well, not so much shaved, more buzz cut, and it's growing back quickly. We had a "Neptune Day" a few days after we crossed the equator, where we had to pay homage to Poseidon. I didn't get to see some of it, but supposedly on the top deck there was our captain dressed up as Poseidon, and they poured a mixture of grounded fish and milk on top of people as they swam across the pool, kissed two fish and then kissed the ring of Poseidon. If he approved, you got knighted, if not, he pushed you back into the pool. Then a lot of people shaved their heads. Crazy stuff.

Things seem to be pretty cheap here, I'll probably take advantage of it. Bunch of new movies coming out are clocking in at about 8-10 dollars each. Might pick up some while I'm here, we're running out of things to watch when we're at sea for long periods of time.

Speaking of that, I'm watching, courtesy of a friend, a sci-fi series called "Firefly". Supposedly it was out for a bit, but Fox was stupid and didn't take advantage of the high ratings and stuffed it in a bad spot. It slowly died and got cancelled, but the first season was fully put out on DVD. I may pick it up here or in Hong Kong if I see it at a reasonable price. Great series.

Other than that we just have had a terribly long string of classes on the ship. It's nice to get out and move around a bit, and to be able to get half decent internet without slamming my head on the desk waiting for my school e-mail to load. Few shout outs to people...

@Parents: I'm doing well. Nothing terribly exciting going on since I last talked to you since we've been at sea the entire time.

@Jackie: Your music still confuses me

@Jeff/Steve/Brandon: I want in-game updates. Any word on Illidan or Ashbringer?

@Billy/Chuck/Mike/Jackie/anyone else who knows anything about computers: My laptop is being stupid. As in, the System process every now and then is all like "Hey, I'ma take up 80% of your resources and make anything your doing temporarily lag". I'm beginning to think it's a hardware issue, but you're welcome to put in your two cents if you think you know what may be causing it. I already looked via process explorer, and it isn't any one sub-process from that. It's just System straight up shooting me with some lag. Laptop is going to take a long drop with a sudden stop when I get home methinks.

That's all I can think of for now, we're getting ready to leave the cafe anyway. Keep in touch people, I like e-mails to my gmail account cause my QU account takes forever to load.

Peace

~Chris

hehe my music is awesome - if you haven't, listen to the band Deerhoof, they're great even though Billy hates them. I've even seen them live.

And about the laptop... yeah mine is just plain rude for no reason too. It's pretty old now, and its crusty % is growing.

I'm glad, it really seems like an exciting time you're having, such an experience. ^__^
